Three of the City’s nature reserves, Blaauwberg Nature Reserve, Milnerton Racecourse Nature Reserve and Rietvlei Wetland Reserve, presented a fun and entertaining holiday programme during the June/July school holidays.
The programme started at Blaauwberg Nature Reserve where the participants learned about our oceans, including finding out what creatures hide in the rocky shores at Melkbosstrand. The week ended with an adventure walk up Blaauwberg Hill.
In the second week there were educational walks to the top of the Hill, where information about the Battle of Blaauwberg was shared. Then the participants visited the Milnerton Racecourse Nature Reserve joining in a search for the "Little Big Five".
The third and final week of the programme continued at Rietvlei Wetland Reserve where participants learnt about the wonders of a wetland, embarking on a treasure hunt while making their own discoveries about the area's feisty fish and beautiful birds.
